President John Dramani Mahama has officially launched the 'No Fee Stress' Programme, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at removing financial barriers to tertiary education in Ghana.

The launch event was held at the SDA College of Education in Asokore, located in the Eastern Region. The programme promises to fully cover academic fees for all Ghanaian students entering public tertiary institutions, beginning with the 2025/2026 academic year.

Addressing the crowd of students, educators, and local leaders, President Mahama delivered a powerful message of hope and opportunity:

“Let it be known across this land that from today, no Ghanaian child will be denied entry into tertiary institution simply because they can't afford the academic fees.”

He emphasized his vision for an inclusive educational system by reaffirming:

“No Ghanaian child will be denied tertiary education.”

The No Fee Stress Programme is seen as a major step forward in tackling the inequality that prevents many young Ghanaians from pursuing higher education due to poverty.

President Mahama also addressed concerns over trainee teacher allowances, assuring students that measures were being put in place to ensure regular disbursement:

“We're also working on your trainee allowances, and soon you'll start receiving alerts for them. We're structuring it so you receive them monthly.”

The choice of SDA College of Education as the launch venue was symbolic, highlighting the importance of teacher training colleges in shaping the future of Ghana’s educational landscape.

The announcement has been met with widespread praise from students, parents, and stakeholders in the education sector, many of whom believe this initiative will transform lives and build a stronger, more educated Ghana.

President Mahama's No Fee Stress Programme adds to his legacy of prioritizing education and social development, and positions education as a key pillar in Ghana’s path to progress.
