Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi Arrives in Ghana for Two-Day Official Visit

ACCRA, Ghana — Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Accra on Wednesday afternoon for a two-day official visit aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between Ghana and India.
Prime Minister Modi was welcomed at the Kotoka International Airport by his host, President John Dramani Mahama, alongside senior government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, and a cultural troupe that treated the dignitaries to traditional Ghanaian music and dance.
The visit marks a significant step in deepening cooperation between the two nations in areas such as trade, technology, education, and infrastructure development. It is also the first official visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Ghana in several decades, signaling a renewed commitment to South-South cooperation.
During his stay, Prime Minister Modi is expected to hold high-level talks with President Mahama at the Jubilee House. The two leaders are set to discuss regional security, economic partnerships, and collaborative development projects.
The Indian leader will also engage with the Ghanaian business community, address the India-Ghana Business Forum, and visit select development sites funded by Indian grants and credit lines.
Prime Minister Modi's visit is expected to culminate in the signing of several bilateral agreements aimed at enhancing socio-economic development in Ghana.
His presence in the West African nation underscores India’s growing interest in strengthening its ties across the African continent, in line with its Africa outreach policy.
