PRESS RELEASE ON FALSE ALLEGATION AGAINST THE PARTY AND EC BY THE OUTGOING MP OF JUABOSO

Our attention has been drawn to some deliberate lies and propaganda by the outgoing Member of Parliament for Juaboso, Mr. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, regarding the upcoming parliamentary elections.

It is important to emphasize that these false claims by Mr. Akandoh are nothing more than desperate remarks from a Member of Parliament who, after 12 years of delivering no value to his constituents, is fully aware that he will be voted out. Consequently, he has resorted to making baseless allegations.

The claims by Mr. Mintah Akandoh are unfounded, as demonstrated by the following

The current district EC director of Juaboso was not responsible for recruiting officials for the upcoming elections. The recruitment was carried out by the outgone district Election Commissioner. Therefore, the current district EC director has no knowledge of the alleged list and could not have selected the so-called NPP-affiliated EC officials, as claimed by the outgoing Member of Parliament. Our interest as a party is the fact that Akandoh and the NDC are trying to frustrate the EC. We will not sit unconcerned for this unscrupulous attacks. There's a clear LI in dealing with any perceived unqualified officials. The media is not the solution, but just to tarnish the image of the EC, the NPP, and the electoral process.

The same electoral officials accused by Akandoh of being pro-NPP were instrumental in assisting his supporters during the electoral process in the district. These same electoral officers exhibited the voters' register in the constituency, helped Akandoh's supporters verify their names and polling stations, and supervised the voter registration exercise. During this process, they even assisted Akandoh and his team in registering individuals whose identities were not easily verifiable. A decision which we vehemently opposed during the registration exercise.

It is, therefore, perplexing that Akandoh, after benefiting from these very officials' efforts, would now accuse them of partisanship.

Furthermore, it is evident that Akandoh's actions are a desperate attempt to divert attention following the circulation of an audio recording of his own General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah. The recording exposes Akandoh’s failures to utilize the millions of Ghana cedis he received as a Member of Parliament for the development of the constituency.

The wild claims by Mr. Akandoh should be dismissed and treated with the contempt they deserve.

Legacy of the fourth republic

The Republic of Ghana, located in West Africa, has undergone a significant political transformation since the establishment of the Fourth Republic in 1992. The journey of Ghana's elections since the Fourth Republic has been marked by a series of events that have shaped the country's political landscape and governance. The Fourth Republic of Ghana was established in 1992 following a period of military rule. The first presidential election under the Fourth Republic was held in 1992, with Jerry John Rawlings, the leader of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), emerging as the winner. Rawlings, who had previously led Ghana as a military ruler, was elected as the President of Ghana and served two terms in office.

In 2000, Ghana held its second presidential election under the Fourth Republic, which saw John Agyekum Kufuor of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) elected as the President of Ghana. Kufuor served two terms in office, from 2001 to 2009, and was succeeded by John Atta Mills of the NDC, who won the 2008 presidential election.

Tragically, President Mills passed away in office in 2012, leading to Vice President John Dramani Mahama assuming the presidency. Mahama went on to win the 2012 presidential election and served as the President of Ghana until 2017.

In the most recent presidential election in 2016, Nana Akufo-Addo of the NPP emerged as the winner, defeating the incumbent President Mahama. Akufo-Addo was inaugurated as the President of Ghana in January 2017 and is currently serving his first term in office.

Throughout the journey of Ghana's elections since the Fourth Republic, the country has seen a peaceful transition of power between political parties, demonstrating a commitment to democracy and good governance. The NDC and NPP have emerged as the two dominant political parties in Ghana, with both parties taking turns in governing the country.

About Abubakar Tahiru, The Ghanaian Man Who Set A Guinness World Record For Hugging 1,123 Trees

A Ghanaian man, Abubakar Tahiru, has set a Guinness World Record after hugging 1,123 trees.

The environmental activist, according to the Guinness World Record, hugged a total of 1,123 trees, averaging almost 19 per minute.

Abubakar, 29, hails from Tepa, a farming community in Ghana. He developed a keen interest in nature and its conservation while growing up.

The young man relocated to Alabama, USA, in 2023 to start his master’s degree in forestry at Auburn University after he completed his undergraduate degree specializing in forestry at one of Ghana’s top universities.

His record attempt came off at Tuskegee National Forest, one of four national forests in the timber-rich state of Alabama.

Guinness World Record indicated that both arms should be wrapped around a tree in a close embrace. No tree may be hugged more than once, and no damage can be caused to any tree or else the attempt is disqualified.

Interestingly, Abubakar was fasting when he attempted to set this record.

“Not being able to drink water throughout the attempt posed a significant challenge, especially given the physical exertion required.

“However, this also proved to be helpful in a way, as there was no need to pause for water breaks, allowing me to continue the attempt uninterrupted from start to finish,” he stated.

“Achieving this world record feels incredibly rewarding.

“It’s a meaningful gesture to highlight the crucial role of trees in our ecosystem and the urgency of environmental conservation,” Abubakar Tahiru added.

Ghanaian Gospel musician, Great Ampong, has refuted rumours that a political party has paid him to record a campaign song for them.

He denied this claim in a recent interview.

Ampong stressed that no political party has paid or contacted him for a campaign song.

The ‘Style Bia Bi’ composer further confirmed his affiliation with the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

He indicated that his support for NPP won’t affect his beliefs and work ethic.

“Whoever said I have received money for a campaign song is dreaming, I haven’t been contacted or received any money to record a campaign song. Whether I choose to release a political song this year or not, my allegiance to the NPP remains steadfast,” Great Ampong said in an interview on Connect 97.1 FM’s “Edwumapa mbr3,” hosted by Nana Yaw Gyebi.

He said in a recent interview that people love their political parties more than the country.

Having witnessed failed promises by politicians, Kinaata stated that he is tired of commenting on issues.

Popular Ghanaian actress, Martha Ankomah, has sued actor and musician, Kwadwo Nkansah aka Lilwin over the recent unsavory comments he made about her.

The CEO of Wezzy Empire in a recent viral video lashed out at Martha Ankomah because she allegedly looked down on the Kumawood film industry.

Lilwin in his live broadcast claimed that award-winning director, Frank Fiifi Gharbin told him that Martha supposedly said Kumawood produces no sensible movies and she would never work with Kumasi-based stars.

Afua Asantewaa has confirmed paying $750 which is equivalent to Ghc 9,286 to Guinness World Record for priority review.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Joy News, Afua Asantewaa disclosed that she and her team decided to pay for the priority review after waiting for some weeks and not receiving any official statement from Guinness World Record concerning her longest singing marathon attempt by an individual.

According to Afua, the fee for the priority review is $650 but there are other hidden additional charges – And because of this, she paid $750 in total.

Citing from the official website of Guinness World Records, if an applicant chooses the Priority Application service, Guinness World Records will respond to him or her within 5 working days (as opposed to the usual 12 weeks).

Afua Asantewaa concluded her captivating Guinness World Record attempt for the singing marathon after an impressive 126 hours and 52 minutes on the 29th of December 2023.

Addressing her supporters after receiving medical attention behind a screen onstage, Asantewaa revealed that she had lost track of time during the five-day endeavour.

Expressing her hope that this achievement would inspire women and youth across the country, Asantewaa conveyed gratitude for the support received from musicians, politicians, and security officials at the Akwaaba Village in Accra.
